Do you know why many people are so opposed to religion?
It is because people believe religion teaches man to accept or conform to conditions as they are. It makes many to wrongly believe that God created some people poor and some rich.
Religion would want you to accept this unequal wealth distribution as perfectly natural and that you must not go against it because it will all be made right when you die and find a seat in heaven.
Ever ask yourself why Napoleon of France made Catholic a state religion? Do you know in his early days, he was so opposed to religion? However, when he came to power , he learnt something different. He discovered to make himself Emperor, the best plan was to use religion. Hence he re-established the Church in the country.
Religion is the only explanation for one man staving near another who is making himself sick by overeating. The only way you can make a staving man to accept his state is to teach him that his condition would be made right in some distance future.
Society is organized to make the rich and the poor co-habit peacefully. This could not be done without keeping the poor satisfied in their condition. Hence the appeal is to a religious authority which teaches the poor to conform to their condition and hope for a better life in the world to come.
Therefore, Religion is at best a fine thing to keep the common people satisfied!
But Christianity is different. It was never meant for a weapon to keep the rich wealthy and secure and the poor satisfied in their proper place. On the contrary, Christianity as taught by Jesus opened the way to all Good.
And Christianity as it was practiced in Acts of the Apostle by the early church was an idealized form of Socialism. It benefited everyone equally.
You find no one was richer than his neighbors. Nobody was poverty stricken. No one was begging.
“For neither was there among them any that lacked: for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold, ” ~ Acts 4:34
Here is what the Master says:
“Ask and ye shall receive, seek and ye shall find.” ~ Matthew 7:7
Jesus was not instructing the rich alone. He was teaching everyone. It is what you do with the master’s teaching that will change your life for the better. And this is the only thing that matters. What are you going to do with the Master’s instruction? Will you use it to better your life or accept your situation as is?
