Step 2: Your Actions

There is no success without action. You need to be committed, determined and be ready for hard work to achieve your objective. You need to plan for the change you are waiting for. Get a clear vision of what you want to change in your life.

Make a list and think of practical ways you want God to help you bring about the change.

Before you settle to work, write down your plan of action and follow it through.

Action Points

There are practical action points to help you change your life or situation for the better:

1. Bible Study ~ 2 Timothy 2:15

Go through your Bible and study your goals and find out how to achieve them. Let the word of God dwell richly in your heart – to overcome temptation Jesus used the word. When tempted, it is the word of God that would lead you victoriously out.

Therefore, you need to search through the Bible for related verses about the change you want to achieve. Memorize as many of them as you could and talk or quote them often to your self or others.

2. Doers of the Word ~ James 1:22

Remember change will not be easy. But God promises to make it possible if you diligently obey His word.

You need imagination to bring about any change. Remember how you first learn how to ride your first bike or learning driving a car.

New activities are difficult and uncomfortable at the beginning but with practice and repetition, it becomes easier and even pleasurable.

Your best bet to bring about any change is hard labor. It is what you do that brings results. So don’t be afraid of hard work.

Thinking and talking are excellent steps but Actions is what make the result visible. So learn to give your self fully to obey the word of God. Practice what you learn from the Bible.

You will change only when you are ready to compel yourself to do what you know is right. Then repeat it until it becomes automatic.

3. Pray without ceasing ~ 1 Thessalonians 5:17

Prayer is one of the best tools to help you bring about your desired change and improvement. Pray to God to help you out.

Let God know what you want to change. When you ask, for help you will receive. He hears when you call. So pray regularly.

4. Talk to Your Pastor ~ James 5:16

When you are seeking a change, the best place to go for support in your church. Talk to your Pastor about your goal. Your Pastor or counselor will help you in prayer and would counsel you and show you from the Bible how to achieve your goal.

You need to fellowship regularly with other Christian. You will learn from the testimonies of others struggling for a change like you.

5. Flee Appearance of Evil ~ 1 Thessalonians 5:22

Examine every condition to identify causes that make you do what you know is wrong. Then plan how to keep away from those causes. Flee every appearance of evil.

It is simple to avoid temptation. You simply need to flee people, places, and situations that tempt you. You need to keep company with people who help you bring about the change that you desire.
1 Corinthians 15:33.

To change you would need to take your self out of the crowd. For example, if you want to stop drinking, then you would need to stop associating with bars and friends who drink.

6. Overcome Evil with Good ~ Romans 12:21

Change and improvement come when you exchange the bad with good. In Ephesians 4:22?32 you are given examples of what deeds to replace with better ones. The things that God hates

You need to get rid of bad practices by learning to practice the exact opposite until the new practice becomes your habit. For example, if you want to stop compulsive lying, learn the habit of telling the truth always You can overcome evil with good. This is the law of nature. It allows no room for vacuum.

What do you do when you want to remove a gas form a bottle? You fill the bottle with a liquid so that air cannot get back inside.

Your heart or mind like that bottle must be occupied. You don’t build your spiritual life on emptiness. It must be filled with good or evil. Therefore replace your bad habits with good, and the bad is less likely to get power to return to hurt you.

7. Look unto Jesus ~ Hebrews 12:2

God offers your Jesus Christ as your life model. You are to focus your eyes on Jesus. Make him your example in thoughts deeds and talks.

You are to be imitators of God. Ephesians 5:1-2 therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrance offering and sacrifice to God.

This you do as you walk in love. For whoever does not love does not know God, for God is love..
~ 1 John 4:8, John 3:16

This means when you want to take any action, you first ask what Jesus would do. Then you do just go ahead and do the same thing.

When you look unto Jesus, he will never disappoint you. Jesus will never disappoint you as your Savior, Lord and as a model to follow. He is the only one who can fill your heart with his Agape love. He will give you a new hope for the future.

He never changes. For he is “the same…..” ~ Hebrews 13:8
